40th Haifa Film Festival: Winners
On October 22, the Industry Meeting of the Haifa Film Festival ended with an award ceremony, which was held online due to the armed conflict. The best pitches for student films, series and feature films from Israel as well as the winning film of the work-in-progress competition were honored.
During the award ceremony, there was a rocket alert in Haifa, a reality that everyone hopes will soon be replaced by peaceful conditions. The industry events in Haifa also included a meeting between Israeli and Arab directors, one of several dialog initiatives that continue to exist largely unnoticed by the public, but are so immensely important right now.
The main prize of the works-in-progress, a post-production prize sponsored by Post Republic, went to the Georgian-Italian-Israeli project AS IF YOU NEVER WERE HERE. In Eti Tsicko's film, an Israeli lawyer who left Georgia many years ago returns to the country of her birth. A search for identity characterized by strangeness and restrained curiosity.
