Belina, aka Lea-Nina Rodzynek, is considered to have been a builder of bridges between cultures. In the 1960s the Jewish-Polish chanson and pop singer travelled across 120 countries as a “musical diplomat” and sang in 17 languages.
She forged a path of reconciliation and, despite her traumatic experiences during the NS-Dictatorship, campaigned for tolerance and equality between Germans, Jews and other nations. Belina's attempts to connect and mediate were not only exemplary and courageous at the time; in today’s era of crisis with its wars, right-wing populism, racism and flows of refugees they remain highly relevant. This film is a powerful musical portrait of a stirring life story.
