Vivian has been struggling for freedom for years and we witness this complex struggle in one location throughout almost the entire film, namely the Jewish rabbinical court. It has the power to determine Vivian's fate and decide if she is entitled to be freed from her domineering husband or is to remain married to him against her will.
The film deals with an acute problem that has continued into modern Judaism and yet does so with great irony, one which is engraved on Vivian Amsalem's facial reactions to the events surrounding her, in turn transforming "Get" into the hypnotising experience of a woman trapped in a patriarchal palace. This is Ronit Elkabetz's last cinematic performance; electrifying, it proves once again that her status as Israel's best actress of all time is so well deserved.
