Writer, publisher, businessman: Salman Schocken, born in 1877, founded one of the largest and most modern department store chains in Europe in the Ore Mountain Range, Nürnberg and Stuttgart. Yet his interests extended far beyond that: he collected German and Hebrew books, worked with Martin Buber, founded a modern publishing house and, after emigrating to Palestine, acquired the Ha‘aretz newspaper. Noemi Schory's documentary film traces the life of this most unconventional intellectual and entrepreneur.
