JFBB Film Evening at the Schmellwitz Open Air Cinema Nights
Last Thursday, 17 July 2025, the Jewish Film Festival Berlin and Brandenburg (JFBB) presented the film ‘Ein Kaddisch für einen Freund’ (D 2012) as part of the Open Air Kinonächte Schmellwitz.
Once again, the JFBB was a guest in Cottbus with a selected film - a tradition in the heart of Lusatia. Andreas Stein, Managing Director of the JFBB, was there to introduce the festival to the audience on Ernst-Mucke-Platz and talk about the importance of Jewish perspectives in cinema.
The film shown tells the moving story of an unusual friendship between the young Palestinian Ali and the Russian-Jewish Holocaust survivor Alexander - a sensitive drama about intergenerational conflicts, cultural divides and the power of reconciliation.
We would like to thank the organisers of the Schmellwitz Open Air Cinema Nights for the successful collaboration!
