Together with her grandmother, Mika travels to Poland with the aim of reclaiming family property confiscated during World War II. On the ground, matters turn out quite differently than planned however in this witty, moving dramedy about a grandmother-granddaughter relationship, love new and old and a utopian search for justice.

Arriving with the plan of together reclaiming the family's former apartment, the two women’s paths diverge shortly after they check into a Warsaw hotel. The somewhat stubborn Regina has returned to her old homeland with an ulterior motive that her granddaughter is unaware of. For her part Mika, while searching for a lawyer, makes the acquaintance of Tomasz, a charming tour guide and hopelessly romantic comic book artist who seems just as interested in her as he is in her family history. And then there's Yagodnik, a clumsy distant relative who, in pursuance of his own agenda, follows Mika everywhere.
Based on Rutu Modan's eponymous graphic novel, her sister and director Dana Modan brings to life here a story that delves into the past and speaks of moments of despair, grief, romance, forgiveness, and humour. And also of people who learn not to take themselves too seriously, especially when things refuse to go as planned.
