Film Talk THE BETRAYERS – The JFBB at the Embassy of Canada

On Tuesday at the Embassy of Canada: Parallel to the European Film Market, the development and market prospects of the Canadian-Ukrainian-Italian co-production THE BETRAYERS were discussed.

David Bezmogis’s new feature film, which is currently in post-production, tells the story of a Soviet dissident and former Israeli politician who retreats to Crimea, where he encounters a man who had betrayed him during the Soviet era.

The multi-layered film is the first feature to be produced under the Ukrainian-Canadian co-production agreement. We spoke with the Ukrainian producer Volodymyr Yatsenko and the Canadian producer Bill Marks about the film’s production history, its political background, and its festival and audience potential.
