JEWISH FILMS IN COTTBUS - SCHMELLWITZ OPEN AIR IN AUGUST

Embedded in a promising programme: MASEL TOV COCKTAIL and KISS ME KOSHER will be shown as part of the Schmellwitz Open-Air Cinema Nights. At the same time as the Jewish Film Festival opens on 12 August, Cottbus will also be attracting its audience to the open-air cinema.

From 12 to 14 August 2021, the 3rd open-air cinema nights of the series 'Schmellwitz (er)leben' will take place - Friends of the JFBB. This year, first-class comedies from near and far Europe await the audience and invite them to linger on Cottbus summer evenings with delicious snacks and cool refreshments.

"After the long period of discipline, deprivation and restriction, we want to celebrate being together and unwind. And what better way to do that than with comedic cinema in the open air? Together with the FilmFestival Cottbus, three days full of entertainment have been created," says Michael Tietz, chairman of the Schmellwitz citizens' association and organiser of the cinema nights, happily.

The open-air cinema can do much more than just entertain: With the School & Cinema campaign, school classes are encouraged to deal with controversial topics in a respectful way. On the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of Jewish life in Germany and the 350th anniversary of Jewish life in Brandenburg, the film MASEL TOV COCKTAIL by Arkadij Khaet - part of the JFBB programme collective - will be shown, about which the pupils will enter into discourse together with the director.

The event is free and open to the public. The complete programme can be found
